Modern / Lyrical
Lyrical I (Ages 11 & up) (1 Hour)
Tuesdays 4:30 – 5:30 PM
Intermediate Lyrical technique. This class focuses on the connection between form, the musical quality of a song, and the dancer’s movements—Prerequisite: Two years of Ballet.
Lyrical II (Ages 13 & up) (1 Hour)
Tuesdays 7:30 – 8:30 PM
Intermediate/Advanced Lyrical technique. This technique class is a fusion of ballet and jazz techniques with an emotional connection to music. Dancers will explore movement through progressions and exercises involving weight exchange, balance, turn, and leaps. Choreography will have a strong emphasis on the emotional connection to the music, storytelling, and performance, as well as a focus on technique. Must have Ballet training. While taking this class, a Ballet class is strongly recommended.
Modern (Ages 12 & up) (1 Hour)
Tuesdays 6:30 – 7:30 PM
This class is based on techniques influenced by the great pioneers of modern dance and current artists. The class concentrates on proper alignment, use of breath, quality of structural form, moving through space, directional changes, fall and recovery, and performance quality. Dancers will also learn improvisational skills to help them discover their own movement styles.
