Ballet

Ballet is the foundation for all dance forms, and PYT recommends all dance students take Ballet to achieve a solid foundation as they explore the art of Dance. Instruction progresses through basic barre and center work to develop posture, alignment, and flexibility. PYT offers pointe work for the more accomplished dancer.


Creative Dance (Ages 3-5) (3/4 hour)

Thursdays 4:15-5:00 PM

The perfect introduction for the future study of all dance techniques, this class explores the basic elements of dance and improves motor skills, promotes self-expression, encourages confidence, ignites imagination, and supports social development. No previous training is required, but students must be at least 3 years old by October 1st.

Beginning Ballet (Ages 5-7) (1 hour)

Mondays 5:30 – 6:30 PM

Basic beginner Ballet technique. 5 years old by October 1st.

Ballet I (Ages 7+) (1 hour)

Thursdays 5:30 – 6:30 PM

Beginner Ballet technique.

Ballet II (Ages 10+) (1 hour)

Mondays 6:00 – 7:00 PM

Intermediate Ballet technique.

Ballet III/IV (1 1/2 hours) and Pointe III/IV (1/2 hour) (Ages 12+)

Recommendation ONLY

Thursdays 6:00 – 7:30 PM Ballet III/IV

Thursdays 7:30 – 8:00 PM Pointe III/IV

Intermediate Ballet technique. Two Ballet classes per week are recommended.

Ballet IV (1 1/2 hours) and Pointe IV (1/2 hour) (Ages 13+)

Tuesdays 7:30 – 9:00 PM Ballet IV

Tuesdays 9:00 – 9:30 PM Pointe IV

Intermediate Ballet technique with Pointe. Two Ballet classes per week are recommended.

Ballet V (1 1/2 hours) & Pointe V (1/2 hour)

Mondays 7:00 – 8:30 PM Ballet V

Mondays 8:30 – 9:00 PM Pointe V

Advanced Ballet technique and intermediate/advanced Pointe – adding one Jazz class is strongly recommended.

Teen Ballet (Ages 13+) (1 hour)

Tuesdays 8:30 – 9:30 PM

This class for teens is an introduction to basic Ballet techniques- no previous training required and it is a perfect companion class for Drama Division students.
