SPECIAL INTEREST CLASSES
These nine-week workshops provide great introductory performing arts experience in special interest areas. Enroll in a single class or partner with other PYT programs. Please note: students must be enrolled in full-year programs in order to have mainstage audition privileges.
READ AND BE : Grades 21/2 - 4
Junie B. Jones, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Charlotte's Web and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Children open these wonderful books and transform themselves into the delightful characters who leap from the page. This nine-week course is an adventurous introduction to creative drama. Boys can pair this class with Boydance for an exciting Saturday performing arts experience.

STAGE COMBAT: Grades 4 1/2 - 8
Get ready for action! Students will learn all the right moves including convincing falls, pretend slaps, punches, and rolls. They'll practice the safe, and non-violent ways of staging exciting fights, and also be introduced to working with swords on stage. Each session will begin with a warm-up and body conditioning for stage combat and physical comedy. Participants may pair this workshop with Stage Makeup for a well-rounded Saturday performing arts experience.

STAGE MAKUP: Grades 4 1/2 - 8
Students are invited to join us in front of the makeup mirror and learn how actors transform themselves with makeup. Each week they will create a different character including a monster, animal, and fantasy creature. They will, also, learn how to apply basic realistic stage makeup for a large theatre like The Scottish Rite Cathedral and a smaller venue like The Ice House. The fee for this class will include a basic theatric makeup kit that participants may keep. Pair this workshop with Stage Combat or a Saturday Imagination class for an exciting performing arts experience.

Jump, slide, twist, and turn - Fly like a javelin, pounce like a panther! Athleticism and basic dance technique are combined for a fun & energy-packed experience. Partner this class with Read and Be for a well-rounded arts experience.

THE PEGASUS PROJECT: Grades 2 & up
Experience in the performing arts benefits all students including those with physical, emotional and cognitive disabilities. The Pegasus Project brings performing arts experience to special needs students in the following ways:
•School residencies in which an artist/teacher will work with a special-needs classroom.
•Financial assistance for students with disabilities who wish to enroll in PYT classes.
•Special accommodations for children with disabilities at PYT Mainstage Productions.
•Signed performances of Mainstage productons for deaf and hard of hearing audience members.

SNOW QUEEN DEVELOPMENT PROJECT: Grades 4 - 12
PYT will be workshopping a new musical based on Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen. Written by Madeleine Ramsey and composed by Paul Salerni, this work is currently in development for the 2005-2006 Season. The artistic team, Paul Salerni, and potential sponsors will be invited to attend final workshop sessions to see selected scenes and to get students' feedback on the libretto and music. ADULT ACTING
This 12-week introductory course is designed for the adult with limited experience in theatre. Coursework includes basic acting and audition techniques, rehearsal and performance procedures, script and character analysis, and basic scene study. Ideal for the novice actor who has an interest in community theatre.
