DANCE THEATRE

PYT DANCE THEATRE is the not-for-profit student performing company of Pennsylvania Youth Theatre's Dance Division. It's mission is to give talented, committed dancers an opportunity to learn and perform original choreography and works from classic repertoire as well as to study with a variety of choreographers and master teachers. The Ballet Company under the direction of Dana Nederostek and Yu Hong will rehearse on Sunday afternoons; the Jazz Company under the direction of Lynne Mariani will rehearse on Wednesday evenings.

Dancers are selected through an audition process and company membership is open to qualified students of the Pennsylvania Youth Theatre Dance Division. Performance Opportunities include The Enchanted Toy Shoppe for ballet company members, a fall in-house performance, a spring performance, a PYT Performs feature, and the Dance Showcase.

Students who would like to audition for PYT DANCE THEATRE must be sure their schedules allow them to adhere to the requirements below. Auditions for the Ballet Company will be held on Sunday, September 24th at 1:00 pm. Auditions for the Jazz Company will be held on Wednesday, September 27th at 7:30 pm. Students are encouraged to consult with their teachers regarding their readiness for company auditions.

BALLET COMPANY REQUIREMENTS
Be available for rehearsals on Sunday afternoons.
Fulfill ballet requirements based on PYT recommended classes.
Register for and attend PYTDT. Company class and rehearsal held on Sunday afternoons. Specific times to be announced. Registration for this class will follow the audition.

JAZZ COMPANY REQUIREMENTS
Be available for rehearsals on Wednesday evenings.
Fulfill recommended jazz and ballet technique class requirements.
Register for and attend the PYTDTrehearsals held on Wednesday nights. Registration for this class will follow auditions.

COMPANY FEE- To offset the costs of additional classes, rehearsals, coaching, and choreography, there will be a participation fee for company members. Specific details will be provided at a later date.
