Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC)
In 2001, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania established the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) to encourage businesses to make contributions to educational improvement organizations approved by the State. (Businesses receive tax credits from the state for their contributions.)
Support for Pennsylvania Youth Theatre’s Mainstage literature-based children’s plays qualifies for this tax credit program. These productions and their accompanying resource guides enrich the language arts curriculum of the 13,000 school children who see these shows annually.
Participating businesses receive a percentage of tax credits for all contributions they make in this program. (They receive a 90% credit for a two-year contribution commitment and a 75% credit for contributions made for a one-year period.) In addition to this significant tax benefit, businesses have the opportunity to support educational organizations in their communities who focus on making positive contributions in this field.
