Intro to Acting for Teens (Grades 8 - 11)
Mondays: 4:30 - 6:30pm

Hey Teens, do you think you're just a dancer or just a singer? Then this introductory class is a perfect fit for that teen who may be interested in acting. Instruction in basic acting principles and vocal technique will be emphasized, along with how the body can be used to help tell stories. Students will create characters and improvise scenes, as well as engage in exercises in movement and voice- all helping to build self-confidence.
A weekly dance class is an essential part of developing technique, musicality and expressiveness- add TEEN BALLET, TEEN TAP I, and/or BODY PERCUSSION. For advanced dancers, continue your dance training or call for recommendations. The voice is a vital tool for a performer and proper training in singing is important- add PRIVATE or SEMI-PRIVATE VOICE LESSONS.

Improv and Scene Study (Grades 8 - 9)
Thursdays: 7:00 - 9:00pm

Prerequisite: Either Young Actors Company or previous training.
The home of Fill-In-The-Blank Inprov Troupe, this class focuses on Improvisation to develop and expand spontaneity, creativity, imagination and humor. In this class, students will track a character's journey through a scene and learn to further articulate the essential elements of a character's objectives, obstacles, conflicts and relationships. Students will also be performing in the Evening of Scenes. This class is for students with previous experience.

Advanced Acting

Prerequisite: Either Improv and Scene Study or previous training.
This class is for the serious performer. Advanced actors will expand their skills by delving into character development and script analysis, with emphasis on creating acting objectives and discovering scenes through character relationships. These students will also begin devising their own work to be performed in the Evening of Scenes. This class is for students with previous experience.

Performance Intensive

For PYT's most advanced Senior Conservatory students, their training continues to explore physical and vocal work, honest characterization, and ensemble storytelling. Layering on emotional truth, authenticity of performance, and teh active pursuit of an objective, this important class asks students to take greater risks. The year's work culminates in a devised piece performed for the Evening of Scenes. This class is for students with previous experience.
